Dating in the New Age

By Jason Daly | November 10, 2008

So you are single. Back in the old days finding a partner left you with limited options. You either got set up by a friend or a family member, responded to an advertisement in a newspaper, or just happen to meet someone at a club or around town or even in the office. In just about every case you had to meet the person face to face before actually getting to know them. Dangerous waters!

But in these days thanks to the Internet and electronic communications age dating is different and in some ways more accessible than ever, especially to people who would be too shy to take that initial leap. Instead of making direct contact with potential companions, we can now choose the pace and the privacy at which we want to get to know someone.

For several of us the Internet can allay many of the ingrained hangups when it comes to dating. Nowadays we can feel comfortable and secure right from our own keyboards as we get to know someone, and if we feel things are not going in the right direction it’s as simple as an e-mail or a quick instant message rather than an awkward face-to-face meeting or even a phone call. Indeed, the walls are coming down on dating as more people than ever dip their foot into the singles pool.

While in general it has become easier to find matches thanks to the many online dating services available right now on the web, it is still a trying process and one that takes time. But if you have the patience and desire, with a little luck and some technique even you can find that perfect somebody.
